This is the website of the “Parallel Computing for Embedded Sensor Systems” (PCESS) research group of the University of Bremen. The group, founded in February 2014 by Prof. Dr. Matthew Holzel, is a collaboration between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the University of Bremen, with funding made possible by the DLR and the Excellence Initiative of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The primary mission of the PCESS group is to develop system identification, control, and image processing algorithms for autonomous control and optical navigation. Specifically, the group’s goal is to develop solutions for satellites and drones in formation flight when time-varying latencies and asynchronous measurements are present. Therefore, the developed algorithms are flight-tested on low-budget drones developed by the group, which are stabilized and controlled by onboard Android phones.
